  • A £90 fee covers one-way courier collection of your gearbox

  • After collection and inspection, we will quote for repair or reconditioning

  • If you choose not to proceed after receiving the quote, a £90 re-delivery fee will apply

Customers are also welcome to deliver and collect their gearbox in person, free of charge, from our workshop in Darwen, Lancashire.

Shipping Requirements

All gearboxes must be fully drained of oil before shipping.

Couriers apply a £200 surcharge for oil spillages.
RVN Gearboxes Ltd cannot be held responsible for these charges.

FAQs

The £90 fee covers one-way courier collection of your gearbox. Once received, it is stripped and assessed and we provide a detailed quotation; no chargeable work is carried out until you approve it. If you decide not to proceed, a £90 re-delivery fee applies, or you can deliver and collect in person free of charge from Darwen. For a rough estimate first, contact us on 07498 378216.
Both. Our repair service addresses the diagnosed issue only, with no unnecessary parts fitted, and carries a 6-month warranty. Our full reconditioning service is a complete rebuild — new bearings, seals, synchros and worn internals, resprayed and tested — and carries a 12-month warranty. We advise which is appropriate once your gearbox has been assessed.
On these vans the usual signs are bearing wear that produces a hum or whine rising with road speed, along with difficulty selecting gears or jumping out of gear as the synchros and linkage wear. Rather than assume, we strip the gearbox and diagnose the exact cause before recommending either a targeted repair or a full recondition.
Yes. We repair and recondition the 5-speed manual gearbox fitted to the Volkswagen Caddy 2.0 SDI. As there are a few variants across the Caddy range, please send us your registration or the code stamped on the casing so we can confirm your exact unit before any work is quoted.
