Collection, Delivery & Customer Collection Options

  • A £90 fee covers one-way courier collection of your gearbox

  • After collection and inspection, we will quote for repair or reconditioning

  • If you choose not to proceed after receiving the quote, a £90 re-delivery fee will apply

Customers are also welcome to deliver and collect their gearbox in person, free of charge, from our workshop in Darwen, Lancashire.

Shipping Requirements

All gearboxes must be fully drained of oil before shipping.

Couriers apply a £200 surcharge for oil spillages.
RVN Gearboxes Ltd cannot be held responsible for these charges.

FAQs

Usually, yes. Noise that changes with gear selection and a stiff or vague shift on the F17 generally comes down to worn bearings and synchros. We strip the box and diagnose the exact cause, then either carry out a targeted repair or a full recondition depending on how far the wear has gone. We'll always tell you which we think is the better value option.
The F17 5-speed was fitted very widely across Vauxhall, including the Astra, Zafira, Corsa and Vectra, typically with the 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 petrol engines (and it appears in related models such as the Meriva and Combo). Because it is so common, please confirm your exact car by sending the registration or casing code. If you don't see your vehicle listed, please get in touch.
It depends on the condition inside. If a single, clearly identifiable fault is present, a repair keeps costs down and carries a 6-month warranty. If several components are worn, a full recondition (12-month warranty) is usually the more sensible long-term choice. We give you an honest recommendation after the gearbox has been stripped and assessed.
