What to Expect – Our Process & Policy

If we are unable to recondition your gearbox, you won’t be charged for the repair itself. However, please note the following:

PLEASE NOTE THE COST PAID OF £90 COVERS THE COLLECTION OF THE GEARBOX ONLY ONCE COLLECTED WE WILL THEN QUOTE TO REPAIR OR RECONDITION THE GEARBOX DEPENDING ON THE PRODUCT YOU HAVE SELECTED

You’re also welcome to drop off and collect your gearbox free of charge from our Darwen, Lancashire premises.

We’ll carry out a full strip-down and diagnostic inspection once the unit is received.

After assessment, a detailed quote will be provided for the reconditioning work.

If you decide not to go ahead, and require the gearbox to be returned, a £90 re-delivery fee will apply.

Important: Please ensure the gearbox is completely drained of oil before sending. Couriers charge a £200 fee for any oil spillage, and we cannot be held responsible for this.

Please Note: All surcharge exchange gearboxes are subject to inspection upon return to assess their condition.

All returned units must be repairable. This means there must be no holes, cracked or damaged casings, or damage that renders the unit beyond economical repair, such as internal components being completely smashed or destroyed.

If a returned gearbox is deemed to be beyond economical repair, only a partial surcharge refund may be issued, or in some cases no refund can be be offered.

FAQs

The gearbox ships dry, without oil. You can add the correct-specification Elf Tranself NFX 75W gear oil as an option, or fill with correct-spec fresh oil before fitting. A matched LuK clutch, concentric slave cylinder (CSC) and flywheel kit is also available, which we recommend renewing while the gearbox is out.
No. Units are supplied on an exchange basis and many are already built and on the shelf, so you receive a reconditioned gearbox first and return your old core afterwards. Availability can still fluctuate with stock and workload, so please confirm before ordering.
It often is. On the PF6 a whine that rises with road speed usually points to bearing wear, while a baulky or notchy change tends to indicate worn synchros or a tired linkage. We establish the exact cause on strip-down and rebuild the unit with new bearings, seals and synchros so the fault does not simply return.
